Selveier (freehold / direct ownership)

As a selveier in Norway you own the home (and your share of the land) outright, pay 2.5 % dokumentavgift on the price, and register your own deed.

A selveier home is one you own directly, including the land or the section, unlike a borettslag where you own a share. Buying a selveier triggers dokumentavgift of 2.5% of the price plus a registration fee, costs a borettslag avoids. In return there is no joint debt and no right of first refusal.
