Egenkapital (equity / down payment)
Egenkapital is the cash you put in yourself; in Norway you need at least 10 percent because a mortgage may cover at most 90 percent of the home's value.
Egenkapital is the share of the price you pay yourself. The requirement is 10% of the property value, lowered from 15% at the end of 2024. If you are short, the common routes are BSU savings, a guarantee (realkausjon) from your parents, or a startlan from the municipality.
