Eierskiftegebyr (ownership transfer fee)
The eierskiftegebyr is a small fee to the cooperative's business manager when a borettslag share changes owner, replacing the dokumentavgift you would otherwise pay on a selveier.
The eierskiftegebyr is a small fee paid to the cooperative’s business manager (forretningsfører) when a share in a borettslag changes owner and the transfer is recorded in the share register.
Because a borettslag share is not real property, you avoid the 2.5 percent dokumentavgift. The eierskiftegebyr is the modest cost you get instead, and it is far lower than the dokumentavgift on an equivalent selveier. Check the sales prospectus (salgsoppgave) for who pays the eierskiftegebyr and any fee for the right of first refusal, so you have the full picture of the omkostninger when you work out the total price.
