Skjult feil og mangel (hidden defect)

A defect you could not have spotted before buying; in Norway you can claim against the seller for up to 5 years after takeover.

A hidden defect (skjult feil og mangel) is a fault you could not have discovered through normal inspection and that the seller did not disclose. Whether you have a claim turns on your duty to inspect and the seller’s duty to disclose under avhendingslova. Report it in writing as soon as you discover it; the absolute deadline is five years from takeover.
