Stressrente (stress-test interest rate)
The stressrente is the higher rate the bank applies when checking that you can handle a rate rise: today's rate plus 3 percentage points, and at least 7 percent regardless.
The stressrente is the rate the bank uses to check that you can cope if the loan gets more expensive. It is today’s rate plus 3 percentage points, and at least 7 percent regardless, which lands around 8 percent at the current rate level. The idea is that the purchase should hold up even if rates rise, so the bank sizes your monthly cost on the stressrente rather than the low rate you get today, and that decides how much you can borrow. Run your own affordability numbers at the stressrente so you avoid stretching into a loan that becomes hard to carry later.
